“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18

At the height of his success, Uzziah’s heart shifted. He forgot the God who lifted him up and began to believe his own press. Pride whispered, “You did this,” and he listened. That quiet whisper cost him dearly.

Pride is sneaky—it doesn’t knock loudly at the door. It slips into the cracks, unnoticed, until it’s firmly planted in our hearts. The moment we forget that our success is God’s gift, we start building on sand, and even the tallest accomplishments become unstable.

True security and lasting blessings are found only when our hearts remain rooted in humility and dependence on God.

“Pride is the silent thief that steals tomorrow’s blessings by poisoning today’s heart.”

A gardener planted flowers in rich soil. As they bloomed, he took pictures and admired their beauty. Soon, he stopped watering them, believing they could thrive on their own. Slowly, the flowers wilted.

The same happens to our hearts. When we stop tending them with humility and reliance on God, even the most beautiful success fades without the living water of His guidance.

  1. Pride grows when we forget God’s hand in our success.
  2. Humility is not weakness—it’s protection.
  3. The higher God lifts us, the lower our knees should bow.

Where in your life do you sense pride trying to slip in? How can you invite humility back into that space?

Make it a habit to redirect praise. When people applaud your gifts, whisper back to God, “This is Yours.” Let every recognition remind you of His hand in your life.

Lord, keep me from the trap of pride. Remind me daily that every gift, every blessing, and every opportunity comes from You. Keep my heart humble and my eyes fixed on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The battle against pride isn’t fought once—it’s a daily choice. Humility keeps us safe under God’s hand, and only by bowing low can we rise in His strength.
